Most Influential People In Cryptocurrency

With a market as broad and diverse as cryptocurrency, there are thousands of individuals involved. Though, there are also a few big names that act as central figures. These few names are the people that make the biggest moves, stand as a symbol for massive companies, and otherwise give personality to an enormous picture.

Get to know some of the most influential people in the world of cryptocurrency today.

Changpeng Zhao

The biggest name in crypto right now, by far, is Changpeng Zhao, otherwise known as CZ. CZ is the CEO of Binance, the biggest crypto in terms of volume. Incredibly CZ only established Binance in 2015, giving testimony to just how much can be achieved in an extremely limited timeframe.

Unlike some other figures in the crypto market, CZ has a very clear and understandable background. He was Head of Development at Blockchain, plus also spent some time as Chief Technology Officer at OK Coin. Today he is ranked as the third richest person globally in the crypto-sphere.

Vitalik Buterin

Another massive name in crypto, and another extremely influential figure, Vitalik Buterin is the founder of Ethereum. Ethereum is, of course, the biggest crypto globally after Bitcoin. Ethereum was also established in 2015, and today boasts a market cap of around $16 billion.

Buterin is most known for having founded Bitcoin Magazine, though he does not have as clear a history as CZ. What is known is that he is an active researcher and developer.

Barry Silbert

Barry Silbert may not be as much in the public eye as Buterin and CZ, but make no mistake that his influence is enormous. In fact, head to a site like Bitcoin Codes and appreciate that he has had a hand in some of the most popular listed exchanges.

Having previously founded and sold SecondMarket to NASDAQ, Silbert is now CEO of Digital Currency Group. The company owns CoinDesk, Genesis, Foundry, Luno, and Greyscale. Most impressive of all is that Silbert has been named Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the year. He has also been listed on Fortune’s 40 Under 40 list. Yes, Silbert has not yet turned 40.

Brian Armstrong

Brian Armstrong is the co-founder and CEO of the trading platform Coinbase. He also notably founded GiveCrypto, a platform focused on allowing traders to donate crypto to the underprivileged. As far as history is concerned Armstrong has had a long journey, having worked at IBM, Airbnb, and Deloitte. He also founded UniversityTutor.com.

Jack Dorsey

Last on our list is Jack Dorsey. Yes, most will know the name Jack Dorsey as the founder of Twitter. But he is also, less commonly known, the founder of the financial services-based company Square. Why does this matter in the world of crypto? Because, staggeringly, Dorsey invested 25% of all Square’s assets into Bitcoin. That amounts to a gobsmacking investment of $50 million.

Dorsey is quoted as saying that Bitcoin is probably the best internet currency. Not an especially glowing recommendation, but then a $50 million investment really speaks for itself.
